Just last week, Microsoft introduced their newest platform for the workplace: Microsoft Viva. Microsoft’s latest technology helps to assist companies with their virtual collaboration in this age of remote work. Microsoft Viva brings together new capabilities and already existing offerings from Microsoft all into one platform. It consists of four different modules. These modules include Viva Connections, Viva Learning, Viva Insights and Viva Topics. These four features are intended to work together to streamline communication and collaboration among a remote workforce. Below is a brief overview of what each model offers:
Viva Connections
Another way Microsoft is making Viva more cohesive with your company’s already existing Microsoft applications is by creating a single entry point. People will be able to access Viva Connections through Microsoft Teams. This creates a one stop shop for your organization’s news, benefits, policy information and more.
Each employee will be able to create their own individual user experience by personalizing their dashboard and customizing their content for their specific role.
Viva Insights
Viva Insights can also be accessed through the teams application. It provides MyAnalytics and Workplace Analytics recommendations for managers and executives to be able to enhance and adjust their employee experiences when necessary. These features can be used by managers to offer suggestions focused on team success and health. For example, it can help the manager see if their team is at risk of burnout. It will then provide recommendations for how employees can cope with burnout like setting daily priorities and setting boundaries in their calendars.
Viva Learning
Viva Learning allows businesses to provide their employees with extended learning opportunities. These learning opportunities use artificial intelligence to suggest the right content for that employee at the right time. Managers will be able to access tools to monitor employee progress and what courses they are taking.
The content for these courses comes from LinkedIn Learning, Microsoft Learn and each organization’s own personal custom content. In recent news, Microsoft has also announced several partnerships with Saba, Cornerstone OnDemand and SAP SuccessFactors
Viva Topics
Viva Topics connects employees with sources of knowledge within your company in an effort to reduce communication complexity caused by remote working. “Think of Viva Topics as a Wikipedia with AI superpowers for your organization. It uses AI to automatically organize company-wide content and expertise into relevant categories like ‘projects’, ‘processes’, and ‘customers’ ”. *
You can expect for the full Microsoft Viva platform to be available some time this year, with parts of it already released last week.
